Darra Gordon, Chief Operating Officer


Darra Gordon is a nonprofit executive leader who defines transformative business strategies and develops innovative solutions to move organizations forward.  Darra has worked in the nonprofit field for nearly 20 years. She was previously at Hetrick-Martin Institute for 14 years, the nation’s oldest and largest LGBTQ youth service organization.  Darra oversaw the agency’s day to day operations and helped lead HMI through national expansion. Previously, she headed the fundraising and development of the organization which resulted in doubling the agency’s operating budget from $4M to $9M.  Before HMI, Darra was at the Pearl Theatre Company, a classical repertory company and prior to that at Literacy Inc. (LINC), an education organization dedicated to helping children become stronger readers. Darra’s work has won her accolades, including the BMW Woman of Xcellence award, the Stonewall Honors for leadership in the LGBT community, and the outstanding alumni award at her alma mater, Lycoming College.

Darra received her MS in Nonprofit Management from The New School University and her BA in philosophy and psychology from Lycoming College in Pennsylvania.

Darra lives in Pelham, NY with her wife Nicole and their three children, Sienna, Nicolas, and Lucy, along with their dog Baci and fish named Fish.
