WATCH: Day 3: Mississippi -- GLAAD's #SouthernStories Summer Tour

This week on GLAAD's video series, GLAAD: All Access, host Claire Pires is documenting every day of GLAAD's Southern Stories Summer Tour! Starting this past Friday in Nashville, GLAAD kicked off the tour with the inaugural Concert for Love & Acceptance presented by Ty Herndon and GLAAD. GLAAD is traveling by bus to six states in eight days to meet LGBT advocates and allies.

In this video, you get a behind-the-scenes look at Day 3 of the tour. You see GLAAD staff at St. Alexis Episcopal Church in Jackson, Mississippi, which is an all-inclusive LGBT-affirming church in Jackson. GLAAD's Director of Programs Ross Murray, who heads our Global and U.S. South work, also gave the sermon during the service. The sermon followed the scripture text from Mark 4:26-34, focusing on two stories Jesus told about seeds being planted and growing into strong plants. Murray spoke about how faith is not something we can force or control, but rather something that God nurtures and grows within us. In the same way, acceptance of those who are 'other', including LGBT people. You can watch Murray's entire sermon here.

In this quick 2.5 minute reel, you get to hear from LGBT people and allies at the church about why this inclusive church is important to have in Jackson, Mississippi.

The Concert for Love and Acceptance kicked off GLAAD's six-state Southern Stories bus tour as we hit the road and travel across the Deep South sharing stories of LGBT Southerners, allies, and advocates.

GLAAD's Southern Stories Summer Tour is produced with support from Major Partner, Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, and Official Partner, Honey Maid. Follow @glaad on Twitter to keep up to date on all the latest Concert for Love and Acceptance and Southern Stories Summer Tour news!
