VIDEO: "I never thought it would be ok to be me" #SpiritDay

Millions of people go purple on Spirit Day in a stand against bullying and to show their support for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) youth.

Observed annually since 2010, individuals, schools, organizations, corporations, and public figures wear purple, which symbolizes 'spirit' on the rainbow flag.

Ahead of Spirit Day, GLAAD has been producing original videos. This week, GLAAD interviewed LGBT youth at New York City's LGBT Community Center, which empowers people to live healthy, successful lives.

In this video, LGBT youth open up about times when people supported them.

Thank you to The LGBT Community Center for letting us interview the LGBT youth and film at your beautiful space.

Watch GLAAD’s video below and don’t forget to show your support for LGBT youth and take the pledge here!
