Darren Young, WWE Superstar, spoke out about being gay yesterday to TMZ while waiting for his luggage at LAX. This morning Young appeared on the Today show with Matt Lauer where we spoke about the positive reaction he has received, including advice from Jason Collins, who made history earlier this year as the first out gay active male pro athlete in one of America's major leagues.
While waiting for his luggage at LAX some cameramen from TMZ asked him if he thought a gay wrestler could be successful. His response? "Absolutely. Look at me. I’m a WWE Superstar and to be honest with you, I’ll tell you right now I’m gay and I’m happy. Very happy."
In an unprecedented show of support, the six most prominent American major sports leagues will all ‘go purple’ with GLAAD for Spirit Day on Friday, October 19, in a stand against bullying and to show their support for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) youth.
