Laverne Cox makes Emmy history; LGBT nominees abound

GLAAD today applauded the list of nominees for the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards, which was among the most LGBT-inclusive list in Emmy history. Laverne Cox became the first transgender person to be nominated for an Emmy in an acting category. Cox received a nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Sophia Burset in the hit Netflix Original Series 'Orange is the New Black.'

Laverne Cox leads NYC's 2014 Pride Parade as Grand Marshal

Yesterday, Orange is the New Black star, Laverne Cox, served as a Grand Marshal in New York City's 2014 Pride Parade, marking the 45th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, along with the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force’s Executive Director, Rea Carey, and “Frozen” star, Jonathan Groff.
