These are the 26 transgender people known to be killed in 2017 -- all are transgender people of color, with the exception of Gwynevere River Song and Ally Lee Steinfeld. This number does not include transgender people whose deaths were not reported due to misgendering in police reports, news stories, and sometimes by the victim's family.

Violence Against Transgender People and People of Color is Disproportionately High, LGBTQH Murder Rate Peaks

The murder rate of people who are LGBTQH is at its highest, according to a recently released 2011 report from the National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs. The report also shows that transgender women, people of color, and youth and young adults are at a disproportionately high risk of being victims of what the NCAVP terms hate violence.
