Celebs celebrate today's landmark victory for equality

In a landmark victory for equality, the United States Supreme Court today struck down the so-called 'Defense of Marriage Act' or DOMA, a law that prohibited the federal government from recognizing legally married same-sex couples. The court also restored marriage equality in California. Celebrities took to Twitter and Facebook this morning to share their excitement and celebrate marriage equality.

George Takei voices support for equality in #BoyScouts: It's okay to be Takei in scouting

This morning TV icon and former Boy Scout, George Takei, changed his Facebook profile picture to include the Equality in Scouting badge and say "It's okay to be Takei in scouting." He also posted a longer message to his Facebook page calling on the BSA to "do the right thing." Today in Dallas, Texas, 1400 members of the Boy Scouts of America will vote on a resolution to end the Boy Scouts of America's ban on gay teenagers.

Guess Who’s Coming to NYC Pride

NYC Pride announced on Monday that DOMA plaintiff Edith Windsor, actor, singer and civil rights advocate Harry Belafonte, and the President/CEO of the Center for Black Equity, Earl Fowlkes, will serve as Grand Marshals during the 44th Annual NYC LGBT Pride March in June 2013.
