Boy Scout Jamboree performers 3 Doors Down need to take action on the BSA ban on gay adults

It was just announced that rock band 3 Doors Down will be performing at the 2013 National Scout Jamboree tomorrow according to the Associated Press. The band is stepping in following withdrawals from Train and Carly Rae Jepsen as a result of a campaign launched by GLAAD and Eagle Scout Derek Nance, who started a Change.org petition which received over 60,000 signatures. The Change.org petition asked them to not perform until the Boy Scouts of America adopt a national non-discrimination policy that would end the BSA's practice of ejecting gay young people and adults.

Celebs begin tweeting their support before Thursday's #BoyScouts vote

Next Thursday, 1400 members of the Boy Scouts' National Council will converge in Dallas to vote on a resolution critical to the Boy Scouts' longstanding ban on gay members. Celebrities such as Tegan and Sara, Jersey Shore's Snooki and Sammi and GLAAD's Wilson Cruz tweeted out their support for equality in the Boy Scouts. Look out for more in the coming week leading up to the vote on Thursday.

GLAAD Joins Zach Wahls and Scouts for Equality at San Francisco City Hall Rally to Bring Equality to the Boy Scouts of America

GLAAD was on the ground in San Francisco with Scouts for Equality (SFE) at a City Hall rally to urge the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) to vote in favor of dropping the BSA's ban on gay youth. Rallies were held today in over 30 cities for supporters to urge their local BSA councils to support an end to the ban on gay youth.
