“It’s clear the voters of Georgia support a pro-equality agenda at the White House and in the U.S. Senate. We congratulate Senators-elect Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock on their victories, and we look forward to working with them and President-elect Biden to secure comprehensive protections for LGBTQ people that an overwhelming majority of Americans already support. We are counting on the new Senators’ commitment to support The Equality Act, protecting LGBTQ people in Georgia and across the country from discrimination. The new Senate must turn the tide on issues that disproportionally impact LGBTQ Americans like COVID-19, healthcare and racial justice. We must begin to repair the damage done to the LGBTQ community and so many others by the outgoing administration, and focus on ensuring our country is a place where all can be safe and have the same chances to succeed.”

GLAAD research shows an overwhelming majority of Americans support protections against discrimination.

Polls show a majority of Americans- Republicans, Democrats, Independents and people of all faiths- support LGBTQ protections.

A recent analysis showed LGBTQ voters likely provided the deciding difference in Georgia in the general election for President-elect Biden, with a record turnout of the LGBTQ vote.

GLAAD’s post-general election poll showed 81% of LGBTQ voters went for President-elect Biden, and said COVID-19, healthcare, racial justice and LGBTQ equality were the top concerns driving their vote: https://www.glaad.org/blog/glaad-2020-post-election-poll-81-lgbtq-voters-went-president-elect-biden-covid-19-healthcare
