New York, NY – GLAAD, the world’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBTQ) media advocacy organization, today recognized National Coming Out Day with a launch the official countdown to Spirit Day, the largest and most visible LGBTQ anti-bullying campaign in the world. On Spirit Day, Thursday, October 18, millions of people around the world will wear purple or go purple online in a unified stand against bullying and to show support for LGBTQ youth. Purple symbolizes ‘spirit’ on the rainbow flag.

GLAAD and Bonnier Publishing USA Announce Release of Second Book in Children’s Book Publishing Partnership

New York, NY – GLAAD, the world’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) media advocacy organization, and Bonnier Publishing USA today announced the release of Jack (Not Jackie) the second book in a partnership aimed at  integrating and elevating positive LGBTQ representation in children’s literature.

San Francisco, CA – GLAAD, the world’s largest LGBTQ media advocacy organization, honored Alyssa Milano, Ross Mathews, and journalist Emil Wilbekin at the 2018 GLAAD Gala San Francisco on September 15 at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco. The event recognizes tech innovators and storytellers who advance LGBTQ acceptance. Actor and comedian Leslie Jordan hosted the event which featured actors Mj Rodriguez and Josie Totah, television personality Michelle Visage, and a performance from transgender pop star Kim Petras.

GLAAD President: Judge Kavanaugh Refuses to Answer Simple Questions on the Dignity of LGBTQ Americans and Is Unfit to Serve on the Supreme Court

GLAAD, the world’s largest LGBTQ media advocacy organization, today applauded Senator Kamala Harris and Senator Cory Booker for questioning Judge Brett Kavanaugh on LGBTQ issues during the Senate Judiciary Committee confirmation hearing for his nomination to the Supreme Court of the United States. GLAAD previously called on members of the Senate Judiciary Committee to ask suggested LGBTQ questions during the confirmation hearing.
