31st Annual GLAAD Media Awards
Official Entry Form and Procedures
Form Below is Now Closed
Entry Procedures
Submission Deadline: Materials must be received by Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at 6:00pm PT.
Why is the submission deadline before the end of the eligibility period?: GLAAD will consider media projects appearing between January and December 31, 2019. However, we require that all media projects appearing before November 27 be submitted by the November 27 deadline.
For projects appearing between the deadline and December 31, please contact GLAAD at submissions@glaad.org to make special arrangements for submission. For projects that appear after the deadline, we will not accept any submissions after December 31.
How to submit: Preferred submission is online, when possible. However mailing a completed entry form with all supporting materials to the address given below is an alternative way to submit.
Submission Fee: Each submission requires a separate entry form and a $100 processing fee payable to GLAAD.
(GLAAD understands that some outlets may need to request a reduced fee or a hardship waiver. Please make those requests to submissions@glaad.org. Requests will be handled on an individual basis. Submissions received without a fee that do not have prior approval for a waiver or reduced fee will not be accepted.)
Must a media project be submitted in order to be nominated?
Mainstream media – GLAAD monitors mainstream media on a year-round basis as part of our work to fight defamation and promote fair, accurate, and inclusive LGBTQ images in the media. This monitoring provides a pool of potential nominees for review. GLAAD may choose to nominate LGBTQ images from these media outlets – even if the image is not submitted.
Media outlets created by and for an LGBTQ Audience – GLAAD does not regularly monitor media created by and for the LGBTQ community for defamation – therefore we do not generate a pool of potential nominees. Furthermore, the limited availability and distribution of this media means GLAAD is not physically able to monitor it. Therefore, all media outlets created by and for the LGBTQ community must submit their programming and journalism in order for it to be eligible for nomination.
Criteria for Eligibility
Eligibility Period: Projects submitted for the 31st Annual GLAAD Media Awards must have been published, released, or broadcast in the United States of America between Jan. 1, 2019 and Dec. 31, 2019.
