Our work tackles tough issues that shape the narrative and provoke dialogue that leads to cultural change. 

GLAAD operates with support from foundations, corporations and individuals from every corner of the United States. Our highly skilled team of more than 50 staff work out of our Headquarters in New York and an office in Los Angeles, and support our expanded reach through multiple chapters across the country. Over the past several years, GLAAD has achieved rapid and significant growth and currently has an annual operating budget of approximately $12 million.

The Position:

GLAAD’s HR & Operations Internship is a unique opportunity to contribute to the inner workings of a national leader in the fight for LGBT acceptance. This intern will support the work of the Chief Operating Officer and Operations Coordinator by developing new projects and assisting with current projects and providing agency operational and human resources support.

The HR & Operations Intern will support GLAAD’s internal systems and help ensure they continue to run smoothly, contribute to the maintenance and expansion of Human Resources’ reach, and improve the day-to-day functioning of both the New York and LA offices.

The HR & Operations Intern reports to the Operations Coordinator in GLAAD’s New York office. 

Qualifications:

  • Detail-oriented, organized, and a proven ability to juggle multiple responsibilities
  • Demonstrated interest in advocacy work around issues of LGBTQ equality
  • Sociable and able to communicate with people of all backgrounds
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Previous HR or office management experience a plus but not required

Please note:

All GLAAD interns are required to be students attending an institution with courses leading to a degree, certificate or diploma, such as college or graduate school. Interns must have graduated from high school. Internships are 8-20 hours/week during the school year and 15-20 hours/week during the summer and usually last twelve weeks. Internships are unpaid and must be completed in the office during the regular hours of 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with occasional evening or weekend hours required for certain internships. Please indicate hours of availability and date available to start in the cover letter. This internship is unpaid.
