THE OPPORTUNITY:

Reporting to the Senior Director, Business Development & Integrated Marketing, the Director of Strategic Partnerships is responsible for fundraising through GLAAD’s corporate partnerships and sponsorships to increase the annual revenue of the organization through thoughtfully crafted partnerships in an effort to support the mission of the organization. 

The Director of Strategic Partnerships is an integral role responsible for prospective and current client-relationship management, tracking new markets and emerging trends, proposing and developing new strategic partnerships based on GLAAD’s advocacy work, writing proposals and plans, and guiding long-term marketing objectives to meet business needs and requirements. The Director of Strategic Partnerships supports GLAAD’s corporate relations strategy to support overall revenue goals, creating a unified and seamless experience for corporate partners and sponsors to interact with GLAAD’s work. The Director of Strategic Partnerships will work closely with the Development Department’s Events team and across departments to foster collaboration and drive effective fundraising initiatives.

THE ROLE & ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee a portfolio of Corporate Partners and Sponsors, averaging annual giving of $100,000 or more, to meet and exceed the organization’s fundraising goals each year
  • Source and secure deals with top-tier institutions; via licensing, sponsorships, cause marketing partnerships, training and consulting, and other unique partnership opportunities 
  • Manage a robust pipeline of new partners and sponsors, drive renewals of existing partners and sponsors, and institutionalize successful corporate fundraising best-practices, including proposal generation, ideation to assist in securing revenue, and partnership activation management
  • Work alongside the Events team to oversee the end-to-end sponsorship process and ensure desired results for corporate partners and sponsors
  • Collaborate with Donor Services to enhance Corporate reporting processes 
  • Work with all departments to oversee capabilities for the organization
  • Manage a partnership pipeline for long-term growth
  • Promptly and meticulously communicate with potential sponsors and partners
  • Tease out partner needs to fine-tune offerings
  • Weigh in product development to ensure the long-term viability
  • Keep in clear and consistent communication with leadership to ensure absolute clarity on progress and needs

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Required: College degree or equivalent.
  • Required: 6-8 years of proven track record working with and cultivating revenue-generating corporate relationships and/or fundraising partnerships with constituents and/or clients.   
  • Required: Willingness to work alternative work schedules as needed, including nights/weekends a must.
  • Required: Superior organization, communications, analytical, and logistics skills. A proven concern for detail, organization, and timely follow-through. 
  • Superior project management skills, including managing projects with multiple and competing deadlines and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently, to work under supervision, and to work in a team and goal-oriented environment.
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge, including Google Drive, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint & Excel
  • Experience with project management software, specifically Basecamp a plus.
  • Willingness to pitch in and help with projects across departments.
  • Positive attitude and sense of humor desired.
  • Experience in LGBTQ, social justice and nonprofit representation of other marginalized communities is a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use a computer and other standard office equipment
  • The position is based in New York and must have the willingness to travel as necessary, work alternative work schedules including nights/weekends and remotely as needed. 
  • GLAAD is currently operating remotely and is expected to transition to a hybrid work arrangement.

Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
