The  Director of Agencies, Brands & Engagement reports to the Executive Vice President of the GLAAD Media Institute and will leverage prior experience as an account management leader, entrepreneur and builder to connect the advertising sector in meaningful and powerful ways to increase representation of LGBTQ people and drive GLAAD’s mission forward towards 100% acceptance for LGTBQ people. The Director will also be a strategic thinker with the ability to build a powerful presentation aimed to influence and educate professional clients and agencies in Advertising.  This role is responsible for the successful management of accounts and partner relationships and revenue generation of $1 million.


General Activation & Engagement Planning 

  • Utilize research and analytics to uncover unique customer-brand connections.

  • Develop strategies, programs and tactics.

  • Contribute to campaign and messaging strategies to ensure engagement/activation is baked into the campaign idea.

  • Ability to conceptualize activation program ideas with creative teams, lead brainstorms, refine output and refine ideas.

  • Partner with innovative and creative colleagues and teams to apply the best innovations to program ideas.

  • Integrate GLAAD experience and measurement tools, Report and tell stories on how brands, the category and competitive set leverage inclusive advertising.

  • Lead and moderate strategy development initiatives, workshops and brainstorms for clients and internal initiatives.

  • Uncover research insights, analyze data, cultural trends and develop implications and recommendations.

  • Design and consult with market research groups on discussion guides and research methodology.

  • Analyze content performance and evaluate changes over time.

Leadership, Team Collaboration & Client Relationships

  • Effectively lead team briefings and ensure team collaboration with internal brand team members and client teams by offering value across all projects.

  • Maintain a broad view across programs and work streams to ensure alignment and consistency

  • Able to not only share a vision for the brand or program, but can create team ownership to drive commitment

  • Lead success in the work by having fun, sharing creative ideas and solutions.

  • Serve as a strategic consultant to assigned accounts with minimal supervision.

Business Development

  • Prospect, educate, qualify, and develop target accounts and leads to create opportunities. This includes target market penetration, calling on CXOs, senior-level executives, following up on marketing generated leads, webinar and event follow-up, creative campaign and door opener outreach, and more.

  • Interact with prospects via telephone, video correspondence, and email.

  • Research accounts, identify key players, generate interest and develop accounts to stimulate opportunity.

  • Become a trusted resource and develop productive relationships with prospects.

  • Update lead scoring and prospect interaction in Raisers Edge to ensure efficient lead management

  • Meet and exceed targets to ensure pipeline and revenue objectives.

  • Maintain professional internal and external relationships that meet our core values and culture.

  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Vice President, GLAAD Media Institute.


  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from an accredited college or university.

  • 5-7 years of experience as an account management leader with a proven track record engaging and working with clients as partners and developing social media program strategies, content planning and social tracking/measurement.


  • A natural relationship builder with an uncanny ability to engage and inspire clients.

  • Self-driven with ability to work independently under limited supervision.

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills including delivering and moderating presentations to diverse audiences.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, results-driven, entrepreneurial environment and easily adapt to shifts in direction and changing priorities.

  • Proficiency with office technologies including G-Suite and MS Office Suite.

  • A strong commitment to GLAAD’s mission and core values.

  • Passionate:  You love your work and are driven to success, making impact and achieving excellence.   

  • Critical Thinker: You enjoy documentary genres or anything that gives you an inside peek into how things work because you want to understand WHY. You see a TikTok trend, and you’re compelled to find out why it went viral.

  • Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer.

  • Willingness to travel within the city and nationally as necessary; and work alternative work schedules and remotely as needed, including nights/weekends.
