GLAAD’s Digital Editorial Intern will support the work of the Director of Youth Engagement in managing GLAAD’s digital platform Amp. Amp serves as GLAAD’s digital platform for young creators. Amp’s multimedia digital content, covers LGBTQ pop culture, politics, personal stories, and everything in between. Amp contributors primarily consist of GLAAD’s trained cohort of Campus Ambassadors, interns, and staff. 

The Digital Editorial Intern assists in the creation, management, and publishing of Amp content. Duties include pitching editorial concepts, reviewing pitches, editing original work, liaising with GLAAD’s team of Junior Editors and other youth creators, creating original content, and more. The Digital Editorial Intern also supports the Director of Youth Engagement in maintaining communication workflows for contributing writers and creators of Amp content.

The Digital Editorial Intern reports to the Director of Youth Engagement in GLAAD’s New York office. 


  • Applicants should have a demonstrated ability to write, edit, and develop pitches related to LGBTQ issues, pop culture, and politics.
  • Applicants with prior experience in student journalism are highly encouraged to apply.
  • Familiarity with digital media, public communications, and/or media advocacy.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Internet research skills.
  • Applicants with an understanding of the issues faced by LGBTQ people of color, women, transgender people, and other marginalized communities are strongly encouraged to apply.

Please note:

All GLAAD interns are required to be students attending an institution with courses leading to a degree, certificate or diploma, such as college or graduate school. Interns must have graduated from high school. Internships are 8-20 hours/week during the school year and 15-20 hours/week during the summer and usually last twelve weeks. Internships are unpaid and must be completed in the office during the regular hours of 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with occasional evening or weekend hours required for certain internships. Please indicate hours of availability and date available to start in the cover letter. This internship is unpaid.
