GLAAD operates with support from foundations, corporations and individuals from every corner of the United States. Our highly skilled team of more than 50 staff work out of our Headquarters in New York and an office in Los Angeles, and support our expanded reach through multiple chapters across the country. Over the past several years, GLAAD has achieved rapid and significant growth and currently has an annual operating budget of approximately $12 million.

 

The Opportunity

GLAAD's Development Coordinator/Associate, Strategic Partnerships reports to the Sr. Director of Strategic Partnerships and is an integral role in managing and cultivating GLAAD’s corporate fundraising partnership pipeline of over $6 Million annually. This role requires availability as needed for events throughout the year on weekends and evenings.

 

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Partnerships

  • Work with the Strategic Partnerships team to research, identify and solicit corporate partners for GLAAD’s programmatic work and fundraising events
  • Create proposals/decks by researching and cultivating corporate prospects, ranging from $1,500-$50,000
  • Lead ad sales strategy for events year-round with an annual goal of $50,000
  • Maintain contact, stewardship and gift information for all corporate partners
  • Prepare agenda, updates, and presentations for Strategic Partnerships department meetings
  • Participate in staff, planning and other meetings as needed.
  • Update critical notes in Raiser's Edge and other internal stewardship tracking systems
  • Track and strategize on all Commitments Not Yet Received, outstanding invoices and pledge collection process

 

Admin

  • Submit and track requests from Strategic Partnerships (Creative Briefs, Website Briefs, Invoices, Financial updates, etc.)
  • Submit expense reports on behalf of Strategic Partnerships
  • Develop event portfolios to identify high-prospect partners
  • Collaborate with Events and Creative team to ensure all marketing and event materials are up to date and reflect accurate partner benefits and deliverables (website, e-blasts, evites, program books, tickets, step and repeat banners, banners, posters, etc.)
  • Update handbooks, event reports and other event-related documents upon request

 

Events

  • Assist Events Management, Activation and Strategic Partnerships to track and execute corporate partner deliverables throughout the year
  • On-site event duties including check-in management and others as needed
  • Assist in cultivating and managing volunteer base in NY, SF, LA, and Atlanta for events year-round
  • Maintain and organize event attendee lists, tracking host committee, and corporate partners
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Candidate Profile | Competencies | Personal Qualities

The ideal candidate should possess the following experience, competencies and personal qualities:

Experience | Education:

  • Required: College degree or equivalent.
  • Required: 3+ years of proven track record working with and cultivating relationships with constituents and/or clients.  
  • Required: Willingness to travel, work alternative work schedules as needed, including nights/weekends a must.
  • Required: Superior organization, communications, analytical and logistics skills. A proven concern for detail, organization, and timely follow through. Tenacious commitment to achievement of fundraising goals.
  • Preferred experience in LGBTQ, social justice, and nonprofit representation of other marginalized communities.

 

Competencies | Personal qualities

  • Superior project management skills, including managing projects with multiple and competing deadlines and ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently, to work under supervision and to work in a team and goal oriented environment.
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, donor database software, specifically Raiser’s Edge, and project management software, specifically Basecamp.
  • Positive attitude and sense of humor desired.
  • Willingness to pitch in and help with projects across departments.
  • Understanding of history and current issues concerning the representation of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and queer communities in the media.
