GLAAD releases Stonewall 50 guide for journalists

Stonewall 50: A Journalist’s Guide to Reporting on the 50th Anniversary of Stonewall and the Legacy of Pride seeks to inform journalists about the history of the Stonewall Uprising and its impact on the LGBTQ movement into the modern day. The guidebook covers several topics: story ideas when covering Stonewall 50, a history of the Stonewall Inn, an overview of significant events in the modern LGBTQ movement, and a focused discussion on the issues the LGBTQ movement faces today-- both in the USA and around the world.

BED 26 tells the story of asylum seeker and GLAAD Media Institute alum

BED 26 is an autobiographical play about a gay African refugee seeking asylum in the United States. The play explores Edafe Okporo's experience as an LGBTQ refugee from Nigeria, where it is not just illegal but also deadly to be out as gay. Fearing for his own life, Edafe fled to the United States to seek asylum, where he was detained and taken to the Elizabeth Detention Center in New Jersey

Mexican embassies and consular offices from Houston to China participated in #Spirit Day, sharing a glorious number of photos of staff dressed in purple and sending messages of support.
