Trump Immigration Adviser
- Updated: February 12, 2024
—With no law to justify his action, sent letters to public schools falsely claiming they are required to out transgender and nonbinary public school students. Kobach then followed up with a press release to further spread disinformation about the nonexistent requirement. Research shows fewer than 1 in 3 transgender and nonbinary youth found their home to be affirming of their gender. LGBTQ youth are 120% more likely to experience homelessness.
—Submitted a letter of complaint to the 10th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals chief judge arguing against using a person’s authentic pronoun, baselessly and falsely claiming: “The courtroom is no place to dismantle science, butcher the English language and deny constitutional rights in order to spare an individual’s feelings.”
—Advocated in 2023 to block a person’s right to change their birth certificate to reflect gender identity, which had been law in Kansas since 2019.
—Continuously uses taxpayer resources to spread disinformation about transgender students in school sports, irrelevantly stating that “as the father of five girls who enjoy sports” he was “delighted” to see the legislature and high school sports association exclude transgender youth, falsely and without evidence claiming gender identity leads to “unfair competition.”
—While standing opposed to marriage equality, cited polygamy and drug use as comparable “situations” that society condemns.
—Claimed same-sex parents are “not good for kids”: “Now we have a situation where gay couples are adopting on the same terms and must be allowed to adopt on the same legal terms as heterosexual couples and, you know, that’s certainly not good for the kids.”
—Reportedly accused the Human Rights Campaign of promoting pedophilia.
—Expressed view that a Hispanic majority could lead to an “ethnic cleansing” in America.
—Promoted conspiracies about President Obama’s birth certificate.
