VOTE: Brittney Griner as the #Impact10 female athlete in 2013

ESPNW is asking you which female athlete has made the most impact in 2013. Take the time to vote for out WNBA star Brittney Griner.

Brittney Griner, who was selected first overall pick by the Phoenix Mercury, is one of the most decoreated female atheltes to every play college basketball. She's a three time All-American, a former AP Player of the Year, and has more blocked shots than any player in men's or women's college basketball. 

In addition to her impressive stats, Griner has made other serious impact in the sports world in 2013. As the top WNBA draft pick and Baylor University's star player, Griner has become one of the highest profile LGBT athletes in the country since she confirmed in an interview with ESPN that she is gay. 

In her interview with ESPN, she noted, "Don't worry about what other people are going to say, because they're always going to say something, but, if you're just true to yourself, let that shine through. Don't hide who you really are...If I can show that I'm out and I'm fne and everything's OK, then hopefully the younger generation will definitely feel the same way." 

In May, Griner accepted a Special Recognition Award from GLAAD's Wilcon Cruz at the 24th Annual GLAAD Media Awards hosted in San Francisco. Her take away message from the awards ceremony was, "If you know then you know. Come out. Don't hide it. Be who you are." 

 

Not only has Griner made an impact on the court, she has made an incredilble impact on the LGBT sports community as well.
