Last night Naya Rivera was joined by Glee co-star Cory Monteith to host the 23rd Annual GLAAD Media Awards in New York. Naya who is a GLAAD Media Awards hosting veteran started off the show by giving Cory a few pointers on how to work the crowd but also took the opportunity to thank her fans and call for more diversity on television. “Our show Glee and other nominated series, movies and media help audiences understand that LGBT characters and stories are central to the fabric of American culture,” said Cory Monteith. Naya Rivera followed by saying: “But we still need more. More lesbians, more transgender people, more allies and more stories.” Watch the video below.

The 23rd Annual GLAAD Media Awards in New York were presented nationally by Ketel One and Wells Fargo, and presented locally in New York by Delta Air Lines and Prudential. Delta Air Lines is the local presenting partner in Los Angeles. Southwest is the local presenting partner of San Francisco.
