VIDEO: MTV's 'Faking It' cast go purple for #spiritday

The cast of MTV's hit comedy Faking It are going purple for Spirit Day this Thursday, October 16 to stand against bullying and support LGBT youth. Don't miss tonight's new episode of Faking It with guest star Laverne Cox as part of MTV's week of anti-bias programming. MTV Act premiered the video this morning, check out series stars Michael J. Willet, Rita Volk, Katie Stevens and Gregg Sulkin below.

Faking It follows high school best friends Amy and Karma, who are mistaken for a lesbian couple but decide to keep up the charade when they see the positive attention it brings to them.  Amy soon realizes she has very real feelings for her apparently straight best friend, Karma. The series broke new ground for TV audiences when it was revealed this season that queen bee Lauren (Bailey De Young) is intersex. This week's episode will feature Laverne Cox guest starring as a passionate drama teacher at Hester High School.

Cox will be doing a Twitter chat with fans today at 1:00pm EST using the hashtag #AskLaverne all leading up to Friday night's premiere of the documentary Laverne Cox Presents: The T Word which will be simulcast on MTV and Logo TV at 7/6c. Immediately following the documentary, Cox and MTV News' SuChin Pak will host an hour long Trans Forum airing on Logo TV and streaming on featuring several of the young people from the documentary.

GLAAD announced last week that Cox will light the iconic Empire State Building purple for Spirit Day on October 16. She will be joined by several of the young people featured in The T Word. This is the first time that the world's most famous office building will go purple for Spirit Day in a stand against bullying.
