VIDEO: Jazz Jennings introduces GLAAD CEO & President Sarah Kate Ellis at #glaadgala SF

Earlier this month, GLAAD held its annual gala in San Francisco. Those in attendance included a wide range of prominent LGBT activists, entertainment personalities, and allies. One of the guests was the star of the hit TLC series I Am Jazz, Jazz Jennings. Jennings, 15, has already made strides in accelerating acceptance for the transgender community aside from her TLC series; she has over 184,000 subscribers on YouTube, a platform she uses to share her story, and is involved with several philanthropies.

It was fitting that Jennings introduced GLAAD's CEO Sarah Kate Ellis, seeing as the two have been working together for some time now to make the transgender voice heard. In her speech, Ellis praised the increased visibility of the transgender community, but said it was only a "benchmark," not the end goal in terms of acceptance for all transgender people.

The GLAAD Gala San Francisco honors innovators in the Bay Area who advance LGBT acceptance through tech and new media and also funds GLAAD's national advocacy work to rewrite the script to accelerate acceptance.
