Take a look at the 2015 Trans 100 List

The 2015 Trans 100 list was announced last night at the third annual Trans 100 Live Event. It is a collection of 100 transgender leaders who are working to advance positive coverage of the community, educate others about transgender folks, and inspire those around them.

GLAAD proudly sponsors the evening, which is co-directed by Crispin Torres and Rebecca Kling. The event aims to highlight the breadth and diversity of work being done in, by and for the transgender community, according to the directors.

Tiq Milan, who has worked extenstively with GLAAD, delivered one of the keynote addresses.

He touched on his journey to manhood and how instrumental his family was throughout the process. Milan said, “it’s not about coming out; it’s about inviting them in.”

Lana Wachowski, co-director of The Matrix and Cloud Atlas, Tona Brown, the first trans woman of color to play at Carnegie Hall, and Laura Jane Grace, the lead singer of Against Me!, were also among the speakers and performers.

The list of 100 advocates includes filmmakers, performers, directors of nonprofits, researchers, doctors, and many more.

The event can be watched thanks in part to Lambda Legal, and a downloadable list is available at http://www.thetrans100.com.
