Stonewall Community Foundation, which strengthens LGBT New York by thoughtfully engaging donors and investing in dynamic organizations, is hosting REVEL, a party at NYC's Stage 48 bringing together people from around the city for a unified cause.
At REVEL, Stonewall Community Foundation will be presenting $15,000 in grants, raised by the Stonewall Quarter Share membership, towards uplifting community organizations in New York City. Stonewall Community Foundation has raised over $17 million in grants since 1990, creating impactful change in New York City's LGBT community.
The event takes place on October 15, which is also GLAAD's Spirit Day, a worldwide campaign in which millions "go purple" to visibly support LGBT youth and stand against bullying.
REVEL will highlight GLAAD's Spirit Day at the event, where attendees will be encouraged to wear purple in a united stand against bullying and to show their support for LGBT youth. According to GLSEN's 2013 National School Climate Survey, 85% of LGBT students report they have been verbally harassed with 65% percent reporting that they have heard homophobic remarks frequently or often in school. To combate the bullying epidemic, participants from celebrities, landmarks, corporations, media outlets, schools, businesses and individuals will "go purple" in support of LGBT youth who are the victims of bullying.
GLAAD supporters can purchase tickets to REVEL using the special promo code spiritrevel for $15 off the purchase price. Tickets are available at www.showclix.com/event/revel.
