SubCulture has also played host to some unique theater events that have come through the space also appeal to a large LGBT audience - like Fringe NYC and Ramin Karimloo's intimate residency in August.
SubCulture is is the first venture from Kaplan Music and Entertainment. Formed by brothers Marc and Steven Kaplan, music entrepreneurs and lifelong lovers of the arts, Kaplan Music and Entertianment is "an incubator for ideas known and unknown." Their vision for SubCulture was to create a a music and performing arts venue in downtown Manhattan that does not identify as a club. A space that could behave more like an intimate concert hall, with the focus on the performer, to create a unique connection between artists and the audience. SubCulture plays host to a dynamic range of performances, genre-defying music series, and stimulating cultural presentations.
