Stephanie Beatriz gives powerful speech on bi representation at the 29th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles

At the 29th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles, GLAAD announced that FOX's Brooklyn Nine-Nine received the GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Comedy Series. The award was presented by Chloe Grace Moretz and Tom Payne and accepted by Stephanie Beatriz, Chelsea Peretti, and Melissa Fumero. Speaking on behalf of her character Detective Rosa Diaz, an out bisexual woman, actress Stephanie Beatriz took the opportunity to speak on the importance of the role as it represents her well as an out bisexual actress.

Aiding in the movement to accelerate acceptance, Brooklyn Nine-Nine took a very important leap by having Detective Rosa Diaz be a regular female character on the show. While there is more work to be done, great strides like this should never go unnoticed. Beatriz echoed these sentiments by speaking on how she has always wanted to see herself in the content she watched on television.
