Spirit Day participants Fun. are partnering with Rachel Antonoff for the launch of The Ally Coalition, a non-profit dedicated to inspiring people to take action in the movement for LGBT equality. Their mission is to “create a coalition of allies that will aid and encourage our fellow artists and people from every walk of life to use their voices and influence to end discrimination against LGBT people.” Watch Fun.’s lead singer Nate Ruess’ “I’m an Ally” video below and join Fun. in going purple for Spirit Day.
Fun. appeared at the GLAAD Media Awards in San Francisco this past June and will be participating in Spirit Day this Friday, October 19. Take a stand against bullying and support LGBT youth by participating in Spirit Day on Friday, October 19. To get involved, simply go purple on October 19 as we work to create a world in which LGBT teens are accepted for who they are. You can download GLAAD’s Spirit Day resource kit which contains tools to get your local community involved. Spirit Day participants can also spread the word and tell their friends that they’re standing up against bullying and text PURPLE to 80888 to donate $5 to support the important work GLAAD, GLSEN and The Trevor Project do every day to end bullying and support LGBT youth.
