#SpiritDay: 19 Days of Action to stand up to bullying - Day 7

It’s official: Spirit Day is almost here. On October 19, millions of Americans will once again wear purple in a stand against bullying and to show their support for LGBT youth.

This year, GLAAD is counting down to Spirit Day with 19 Days of Action – quick and easy steps you can take each day to help stand up to bullying.

Ready to get started?

#SpiritDay: 19 Days of Action – Day 7, October 7

Now that you’ve taken the pledge to go purple, ask your place of worship if they will go purple with you on Spirit Day.

Churches, synagogues, mosques, and faith gatherings of all kinds will be sharing a message that matches the theme of Spirit Day. Anti-bullying messages are even stronger when they come from faith communities, stressing that each one of us is unique and special. This year, we want anti-bullying messages to be heard across all religions and faith traditions.

Ask your congregation to use purple banners, bulletins, and ribbons at the nearest worship service. Put an announcement out, inviting everyone to wear purple. Take a group photo with all the purple. Talk about bullying in youth group, or in a conversation with youth and adults. Use some of the ideas and resources from the Spirit Day Faith Page.

When you text PURPLE to 80888, you are supporting the important work GLAAD, GLSEN and The Trevor Project do every day to end bullying and support LGBT youth!
