Wonder what we’re up to at GLAAD?
Be sure to check out GLAAD Blog each week for updates about our latest work to build support for LGBT equality through news, entertainment and online media.
One year after the murder of pioneering Ugandan LGBT advocate David Kato, GLAAD worked to raise visibility around Kato’s life and work in media outlets including TheRoot.com.
- In response to the recent hazing death of gay Florida A&M University (FAMU) drum major Robert Champion Jr., GLAAD worked with FAMU’s LGBT Pride Student Union to place an op-ed in the Tallahassee Democrat that cast light on the lack of LGBT-inclusion on campus.
- GLAAD’s Director of Spanish-Language Media spoke about the importance of family and parental support for LGBT youth on the Spanish-language news program LA Community. The show will also air GLAAD’s Spanish-language PSA featuring Sofia Vergara of Modern Family.
GLAAD was on the ground at the Sundance Film Festival to host three panels which highlighted this year’s LGBT-inclusive films. Panelists included openly gay Bishop Gene Robinson, subject of the highly-anticipated new documentary, “Love Free or Die.”
- GLAAD hosted a series of trainings at the nation’s largest gathering of LGBT advocates, Creating Change. Among others, workshops included GLAAD’s ‘New Media Training Institute,’ which brought together leading bloggers and social media users to speak on the power of digital media in building support for equality.
