Must-See LGBTQ TV: The Tonys on Sunday, new seasons of 'Love, Victor' and 'Rutherford Falls', and 'The Lake' premieres Friday!

This year’s Tony Awards will air tonight on CBS and Paramount+. A Strange Loop, featuring black queer protagonist Usher, has received eleven nominations including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Original Score (Music and/or Lyrics) Written for the Theatre, Jaquel Spivey for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical, John-Andrew Morrison for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical, L Morgan Lee for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical, Arnulfo Maldonado for Best Scenic Design of a Musical, Jen Schriever for Best Lighting Design of a Musical, Drew Levy for Best Sound Design of a Musical, Stephen Brackett for Best Direction of a Musical, and Charlie Rosen for Best Orchestrations. The third and final season of Love, Victor will premiere this Wednesday on Hulu and Disney+. This season finds Victor (Michael Cimino) going on a journey of self-discovery – not only deciding who he wants to be with, but more broadly, who he wants to be. With their post-high-school-plans looming, Victor and his friends are faced with a new set of problems that they must work through to make the best choices for their futures. Love, Victor features numerous LGBTQ characters in its ensemble. Love, Victor: Wednesday, on Hulu and Disney+.

Season two of Rutherford Falls will premiere this Thursday on Peacock. Rutherford Falls is a comedy about two lifelong best friends, Nathan Rutherford (Ed Helms) and Reagan Wells (Jana Schmieding), who find themselves at a crossroads – quite literally – when their sleepy town gets an unexpected wakeup call. Nonbinary actor Jesse Leigh plays queer character Bobbie Yang, an aspiring high school student and Nathan’s personal assistant. Rutherford Falls: Thursday, on Peacock.

The Lake will premiere this Friday on Amazon Prime. The Lake tells stories about the Canadian Cottage Experience centered around Justin (out actor Jordan Gavaris), a recently divorced gay man trying to reconnect with Billie (Madison Shamoun), the daughter he gave up for adoption while battling his stepsister Maisy-May for the rights to the family cottage. The Lake: Friday, on Amazon Prime.
