The 64th Annual Emmy Awards aired last night on ABC, and the host network's Modern Family took home the award for Best Comedy Series and two acting awards.  In addition to Julie Bowen winning Best Supporting Actress, Eric Stonestreet won Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of gay father Cameron, and said onstage how proud he was to play part of TV's favorite LGBT family.

He thanked his fellow nominees and noted that he "wouldn't be here without Jesse Tyler Ferguson," who plays his husband Mitchell. "There is no Mitch without Cam," he said from the podium, adding that he's honored to "show America and the world what a loving couple can be."

Other LGBT-inclusive shows that took home awards included Downton Abbey, American Horror Story, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, The Good Wife, Dancing With the Stars,The Amazing Race, and the Tony Awards.  A variety of other inclusive shows and out talent were recognized with nominations this year, which you can see here.  

Also notable was the bestowing of the prestigious Governor's Award on MTV's It Gets Better special, which it recieved at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Saturday, September 15.  It was recently announced that a second, brand new It Gets Better special will air on MTV October 9, just two days before National Coming Out day.
