Logo TV announced a new award show today, Trailblazers, that will honor people within the LGBT community. Premiering Thursday, June 26, Trailblazers will celebrate individuals who have had a profound impact on the community and who are working towards equality for LGBT people. The event will feature celebrities, politicians, activists and trendsetters who are cultivating positive change for the LGBT community.
Trailblazers will honor Edie Windsor and Roberta Kaplan and their historic achievement in the defeat of section 3 of the so-called Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). The event will also recognize several out athletes. Presenters and performers include Daniel Radcliffe, Jared Leto, Kylie Minogue, Ariana Grande, Rita Ora, Iggy Azalea, Tyler Glenn of Neon Trees, Mary Lambert, and A Great Big World.
In addition, Trailblazers will pay tribute to local heroes. Logo is asking people to submit stories of friends, family, and community leaders who have made a difference in their lives. Five of these local leaders will be featured on the Trailblazers website, and one will win a trip to the Trailblazers awards show. Starting today, people can go here to submit photos and videos of the people who inspire them.
The one hour special will air June 26 at 9:00pm ET/PT from New York’s Cathedral of St. John the Divine, one of the first churches in the state to host the marriages of same-sex couples.
