This afternoon the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit lifted its stay of the Federal District Court decision that found Proposition 8 unconstitutional. The plaintiffs who successfully challenged California’s Proposition 8 in Hollingsworth v. Perry, including Plaintiffs Kris Perry and Sandy Stier, will be the first to marry. 

"This is an historic moment in our movement and a beautiful day for all families," said GLAAD national spokesperson Wilson Cruz. "By coming out and being visible in daily life and in media, so many people have helped create a culture in which marriage equality is increasingly accepted and supported.
