GLAAD worked with the producers of Conclusiones on CNN en Español to ensure that the voices of gay people were included in a story on the Pope’s recent statements on marriage. Lourdes Rodriguez-Nogues, president of Dignity USA, gave a great nearly ten-minute interview in which she discussed her own faith and explained that many Catholics do not feel they must choose between faith and support of the LGBT people they love—instead they embrace both. Recent polls show growing support for marriage equality among Catholics, including Latino Catholics. A report last year from the Public Religion Research Institute showed that nearly 6‐in‐10 (57%) of Latino Catholics in California said they would vote to allow gay and lesbian couples to marry. Congratulations to Lourdes and to CNN for airing this inclusive and interesting piece.
