Kellogg comes “All Together” for Spirit Day

GLAAD and Kellogg have teamed up for Spirit Day for the fourth year in a row to help turn the world purple. This year, as a Presenting Partner, Kellogg has brought out all the stops, bringing out all of Kellogg’s beloved mascots and brands to come “All Together” to support LGBTQ youth and take a stand against bullying.

“We are proud to partner with Kellogg in this unprecedented year to help extend the important message of Spirit Day to households across the nation,” said GLAAD President & CEO Sarah Kate Ellis. “The ‘All Together’ mentality that Kellogg and its brands encompass is right in line with the values of diversity, equality, and solidarity that Spirit Day is all about."

From Tony the Tiger (from Frosted Flakes) and Toucan Sam (from Froot Loops) to Snap, Crackle & Pop (from Rice Krispies) and Mini (from Frosted Mini Wheats), the whole Kellogg’s cereal family returns to show its support. In addition, other Kellogg’s brands also went purple for #SpiritDay, including Eggo, Pringles and Morningstar Farms and RXBAR. And for the first time, Kellogg Canada will be helping spread the Spirit Day message north of the border as well. By activating the entire brand portfolio, and the iconic mascots that represent them, for Spirit Day, The Kellogg Company yet again demonstrates its commitment to LGBTQ youth.

As the posts say: “Even though we can’t be together this year, we will always stand All Together with LGBTQ+ youth.”


About Spirit Day:

Each year, millions go purple for GLAAD’s Spirit Day to support LGBTQ youth in a united stand against bullying. Started in 2010 by high school student Brittany McMillan in response to numerous young LGBTQ lives lost to suicide, Spirit Day now draws the participation of celebrities, schools, faith institutions, national landmarks, corporations, media outlets, sports leagues, and advocates around the world, all joining together to stand against bullying and support LGBTQ youth.

Presenting partners Delta Air Lines, Kellogg Company, and Target, official partners Amazon, NYC Department of Youth and Community Development and the New York City Council, and Skittles, as well as community partners Kirkland & Ellis, NBA & WNBA will all participate in 2020 Spirit Day.

In 2020, Spirit Day takes on a renewed importance due to the unprecedented challenges facing LGBTQ youth. This year, many LGBTQ youth are beginning the school year at home and are unable to attend in-person meetings of Gay-Straight Alliances, Gender-Sexuality Alliances or on-campus college LGBTQ organizations. Some LGBTQ youth may be confined to a home environment that may be unsupportive or abusive. Calls to The Trevor Project’s hotline for LGBTQ youth have at times more than doubled since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
