Happy birthday to legendary Hollywood writer and producer Norman Lear!

Norman Lear is turning 92. The legendary writer and producer has long been a pioneer when it comes to LGBT images in Hollywood, often including storylines in his hit sitcoms All in the Family, Maude, The Jeffersons, Hot L Baltimore, among others.

GLAAD presented Lear with the Pioneer Award earlier this year at the 25th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles for his contribution to LGBT images on television during his career spanning over six decades, and for his activism in advancing equality. In 1981, Lear founded People for the American Way, a progressive organization working towards a "society in which everyone is treated equally under the law, given the freedom and opportunity to pursue their dreams, and encouraged to participate in our nation’s civic and political life."

To celebrate his birthday, People for the American Way is sending Norman Lear a card. Wish him and happy birthday and sign the card here.
