The GLAAD Wrap: 'It Got Better' Season 2; Adam Lambert's "Ghost Town;" 'Bold and the Beautiful' casting news and more!

Every week, The GLAAD Wrap brings you LGBT-related entertainment news highlights, fresh stuff to watch out for, and fun diversions to help you kick off the weekend.

1) Molly Shannon and Paul Reiser have joined the cast of coming-of-age dramedy film Miles, alongside newcomer Tim Boardman. Miles tells the story of a young gay man who, desperate to get out of small-town Illinois, joins the girls' volleyball team in an attempt to win a scholarship.

2) The It Gets Better Project and LStudio brings a second season of docu-series It Got Better, which features LGBT celebrities talking about how their lives improved as they grew and felt more comfortable in their skin. The second season will feature six stories from notable public figures, including out actors Rosie O'Donnell and Portia de Rossi as well as trans advocate and host of MSNBC's So Popular! Janet Mock. 3) Out actor Lea Delaria, known for her role as "Big Boo" on Orange Is The New Black, has been promoted to series regular for the series' fourth season. Delaria has been on the show since the first season as recurring character "Big Boo," an out inmate who struggles with anxiety and whose reason for incarceration is unknown. Season 3 of Orange Is The New Black premieres on June 12.  Also on Netflix, Ellen DeGeneres has teamed up with Warner Bros. TV Group to executive-produce 13 episodes of Green Eggs and Ham, an animated adaptation of the Dr. Seuss classic.

4) Scott Turner Schofield, trans actor, speaker and author, joins the cast of CBS' long-running soap The Bold and the Beautiful. Schofield makes his TV acting debut as Nick, the best friend of Maya Avant. Last month, Maya disclosed that she is transgender and Nick comes at a time when she is in need of support. With Nick's help, Maya can "stand strong in who she is and how she made the right choices for herself." Schofield will appear in at least 6 episodes of The Bold and the Beautiful, starting from May 8 on CBS.

5) Pop singer Adam Lambert has released the music video for his latest single "Ghost Town." The track comes off of Lambert's much-anticipated third album The Original High. The Original High will be released on June 16, and is currently available for pre-order on iTunes. Check out the "Ghost Town" video below:


6) Vicci Martinez, the out performer who rose to prominence on NBC's The Voice, has released her new EP I Am. The four-song record is Martinez's first since she released Vicci with Universal Republic Records after being a finalist on The Voice. The album is now available on iTunes.

7) As part of their second annual #PlaybillPride initiative, Playbill is partnering with Disney Theatrical Productions and Family Equality Council for Family Day OUT on June 13. LGBT families, friends and allies are invited to attend special performances of Disney's The Lion King and Aladdin on Broadway, meet cast members and participate in hands-on learning activities hosted by Disney Teaching Artists. "We at Disney Theatrical are proud to have stood for diversity and inclusion since we started producing on Broadway more than 20 years ago and this event is a perfect opportunity to support that," said Thomas Schumacher, President and Producer Disney Theatrical Productions.

8) Documentary short The Committee is raising funds in order to broadcast the film on public television. The Committee delves into the 1960s investigation of students and professors at state universities in Florida who were suspected of being gay. More than 200 students and faculty were expelled or fired, and few have spoken about it. The Committee tells the story of two who were willing to share their experiences. Funds raised will go towards bringing the film up to broadcast specifications. Learn more about the project on its IndieGogo page.
