Every week, The GLAAD Wrap brings you LGBT-related entertainment news highlights, fresh stuff to watch out for, and fun diversions to help you kick off the weekend.
1) In Angels Crest, opening this Friday, a small Rocky Mountains community is devastated as a young father faces tragedy and loses his son following a moment of thoughtlessness. As the prosecution starts to cast blame, the tight-knit community begins to come apart. Two of Angel Crest’s residents are a “gruff, no nonsense” lesbian played by Kate Walsh and her partner portrayed by Elizabeth McGovern. Watch the trailer below.
2) This year’s GLAAD Media Awards Outstanding Music Artist, the Scissor Sisters, will be kicking off the new year with a preview of their new album set to be released later in 2012. Fans will be able to listen to ‘Shady Love’ on BBC Radio One’s website (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/) between 5 a.m.-8 a.m. EST.
3) Filmmakers Moby Longinotto and Aviva Wishnow have taken their short documentary The Joneses to Kickstarter in hopes of turning it into a full-length feature. Trevor is a 34-year-old virgin, and Brad was born with brain damage. Both live in a trailer park in a small town in Mississippi with their transgender parent, Jheri Rae Jones. Brad is now 40 and never had a serious girlfriend, while Jheri at 70 still has an active dating life but is ready to find true love which can be difficult as a transgender woman in the South. In the full-length documentary, filmmakers want to continue to tell the story of this loving family as each of them looks for romance in their own way. To find out more, watch the video below and head to the documentary’s Kickstarter page.
