GLAAD leads LGBTQ Panel “Power Your Pride” at POPSUGAR Play/Ground Festival in New York

This past weekend, POPSUGAR hosted its second annual POPSUGAR Play/Ground Festival at Pier 94 in New York. Play/Ground is an immersive and interactive festival that seeks to help women power their “happily after evers.”

At this year’s festival, GLAAD presented a panel titled “Power Your Pride,” which focused on a discussion surrounding inclusion, acceptance, love and pride. Moderated by GLAAD’s Anthony Ramos, the “Power Your Pride” panelists included LGBTQ advocates David Burtka, Nico Tortorella, Carmen Carrera, Alicia Garza, and Brad Goreski. Find more information about the panelists further down.

In reflection of this historic Pride month, the 30 minute-long panel covered a variety of timely topics, including the crisis of black trans women who continue to be murdered in America. Other topics that were covered included gender neutral fashion in today’s society, the panelists’ overall acceptance of their queer identities, their coming out experiences, and the concept of raising kids in this current era.
