GLAAD launches COVID-19 hub for resources, entertainment and more

GLAAD launched today a COVID-19 website hub aimed to amplify the voices of LGBTQ people during the pandemic.

“During this time of uncertainty, some LGBTQ people, especially our youth, are staying in homes that are not welcoming or affirming. Isolation can be dangerous for LGBTQ people and the GLAAD staff is working remotely to do what we do best: send the messages that inspire and uplift LGBTQ people, fight back against discrimination, and bring the community together to feel the strength and power of our unity,” said GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis. “LGBTQ people have largely been left out of political, media, and national narratives around the coronavirus and so the GLAAD team launched this site to ensure LGBTQ people are seen, heard and taken care of.”

The COVID-19 center is accessible through GLAAD’s homepage. The site will include pages for self care, becoming an at-home advocate, entertainment news and posts that showcase the diversity of our community.

The Self Care and Resources page features headlines to keep you updated along with mental health resources and access to 24/7 hotlines. You will also find ways to take care of yourself during the pandemic.

Under At-Home Advocate, you will find ways to take action and let your voice be heard. Whether it’s taking the pledge to vote, signing the latest petition or getting trained virtually by the GLAAD Media Institute, you can brush up on your advocacy skills from your home.

When it comes to the Entertainment page, you will have access to exclusive interviews and stay up-to-date on LGBTQ media news. Here, you will also find recommendations from the GLAAD staff on what to watch, read and listen to.

The Community Profiles put our intersectional voices at the forefront. You will learn how youth, Spanish and Latinx, transgender people and communities of color are responding to COVID-19. You will also find stories of LGBTQ people doing good during this time.
