GLAAD to co-host youth fair and open house with Lost-n-Found youth in Atlanta

Join GLAAD and Lost-n-Found Youth for a free open house featuring food, games, and a look into the critical services that support LGBT homeless youth across the South. The Southern Stories Youth Fair is open to any youth, families, and supporters who can find their way into Atlanta to join in the fun on Friday June 19. Come enjoy snacks, inflatables, and tours of the Lost-n-Found space and, while you're at it, enjoy shopping in the Lost-n-Found Thrift Store for great deals and proceeds that go towards promoting the organization's mission!

According to the National Coalition for the Homeless, between 30-43% of homeless youth are LGBT (in comparison, about 10% of the general youth population is LGBT). Greater rates of homelessness can lead to a higher risk of victimization and mental health issues among other problems in already-vulnerable LGBT youth.

Lost-n-Found Youth seeks to change all of that.

Lost-n-Found Youth is dedicated to the advocacy and service of youth from 13 to 25 years old. The organization garnered national attention last year when one of its clients, Daniel Pierce, recorded being kicked out of his home. Since then, Daniel has joined the leadership of Lost-n-Found Youth, the first former client of the organization to be appointed to the Board of Directors.

In order to fulfill the mission of assisting and empowering LGBT homeless adolescents, Lost-n-Found Youth, Atlanta’s only nonprofit organization dedicated to taking homeless LGBT youth off the street and into more permanent housing, offers emergency and transitional housing as well as mental health evaluations, HIV/STD testing referrals, and a 24/7 hotline. We look forward to seeing you at the Youth Fair as we celebrate and support this wonderful organization!
