Gigi Gorgeous documentary 'This is Everything' premieres on YouTube Red

Oscar-winning director Barbara Kopple’s new documentary This Is Everything: Gigi Gorgeous, tells the story of Gigi Lazzarato, transgender YouTube personality and fashion vlogger, who documented her transition on her YouTube channel and inspired millions of people across the world.

The documentary premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah on January 24, and is the first YouTube Red original film to premiere at the festival.

In 2008, Gigi retired from her time as a nationally ranked Canadian diver and began a YouTube channel focusing on make-up tutorials and fashion advice. In 2013, she posted a video in which she came out as a transgender woman to her millions of subscribers. Now, the twenty-four-year-old enjoys a career as an actress and a model, and continues making YouTube videos for an audience of over 2.4 million subscribers.

In an interview with the L.A. Times, Gorgeous said, "I've always felt that sharing my story is the best way to educate people and show them the real me, kind of put a real human connection to something that they may not be familiar with, and I've been filming YouTube videos in my room for years--beauty and fashion--but also serious things like coming out as transgender and sharing different things that I went through physically, emotionally."

The film provides an intimate look into Gigi’s life, detailing her public transition and personal struggles, ultimately showing the power and importance of self and family acceptance.

This Is Everything: Gigi Gorgeous is a YouTube Red original film, and will be released through its streaming service on February 8.
