#FiveFilms4Freedom festival highlights global LGBTQ short films in DC and NYC

The #FiveFilms4Freedom Festival is the first and largest digital LGBTQ film festival will be held in New York City on November 16, 2017. The festival of global-themed LGBTQ shorts is coming to NYC after much success at BFI Flare in Washington, D.C.

#FiveFilms4Freedom is supported by the British Council, the British Film Institute, and the Love is GREAT campaign. Additionally, all five films in the festival this year are UK productions to celebrate the 50th anniversary of homosexuality being decriminalized in Britain.

Panelists have been discussing and reacting to the films at each screening event. One of the panelists is an alum of the GLAAD Media Institute, Amazin LeThi. Amazin is also the founder of the Amazin LeThi Foundation, which is dedicated to empowering LGBTQ youth as well as youth impacted by HIV/AIDS to tell their stories. Amazin LeThi has partnered with GLAAD in the past to promote stories from LGBTQ Asians and attended our GLAAD Atlanta Gala.

The films that are a part of the #FiveFilms4Freedom include drama and documentaries, and tell stories of LGBTQ experiences. If you’re interested in attending, check out the website here.
