Fabulous Beekman Boys celebrate engagement in NYC

“Fabulous Beekman Boys” stars Brent Ridge and Josh Kilmer-Purcell surprised a crowd in Manhattan at The Sanctuary Hotel this weekend when Brent popped the question at a party celebrating the launch of “Lump of Kohl” from the couple's Beekman1802.com brand.

“I designed this ring for you,” Brent told his husband-to-be. “It’s imperfect on all sides, like both of us are. It’s hand forged from steel, like our 13-year relationship. And it’s also lined with silver. Because we always find the silver lining.”

Real Housewives star Sonja Morgan hosted the event and Bravo's cameras from "The Real Housewives of NYC" were on-hand to tape the surprise proposal. Earlier this year, the "Fabulous Beekman Boys," which aired on Planet Green, was nominated for a GLAAD Media Award.

Queerty exclusively broke the news this past Saturday.

"When we first met thirteen years ago it was impossible to be legally married anywhere in the United States," Brent and Josh said in a statement. "Not only are we thrilled that it's now possible, but also that we can get married right here at our farm in New York."

"We're thrilled to wish Josh and Brent our warmest congratulations and join millions of Bravo viewers in looking forward to watching the proposal unfold on the network's airwaves,” said Mike Thompson, GLAAD’s Acting President. “Whether on the farm, at LGBT events or with Beekman 1802, Josh and Brent have been strong advocates for our community who continue to use their story to show that all Americans should be able to marry the person they love.”

GLAAD congratulates Brent and Josh on their upcoming nuptials and thanks the couple for their ongoing commitment to increasing LGBT visibility in the media.
