Celebrities are showing their support for the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance (HERO). The ordinance protects the rights of residents and visitors of Houston based on fifteen different categories including sexual orientation and gender identity.
Sally Field was the special guest last night at a Houston Unites fundraiser to support HERO. "A vote for HERO is a vote to treat everyone fairly and equally under the law," said Field.
Field joins other high-profile backers of HERO, including Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson and husband Justin Mikita who pledged earlier this week to match donations up to $20,000 to support the ordinance. Matt Bomer, Dustin Lance Black, Eva Longoria, Matthew Marrison, and Hillary Clinton, as well as professional athletes Jason Collins and Michael Sam, have also come out in support of HERO.

If the ordinance is repealed, Houston will become the largest U.S. city without a similar non-discrimination ordinance. It will be on the ballot for Houston voters this coming Tuesday.
