RSVP to BuzzFeed's Queer Prom!

May 30, 2018

Calling all NYC LGBTQ youth! Throw on your rainbow suspenders and lavender corsage—it’s time for BuzzFeed’s Queer Prom!

After an amazing inaugural Queen Prom last spring, BuzzFeed, in partnership with Samsung, will celebrate the social event of the season in New York City on June 1st. And if you are an LGBTQ-identified high school or college student, YOU can sign up for an opportunity to attend!

Kicking off on the first day of Pride Month, BuzzFeed’s Queer Prom serves to provide a safe space for people of all gender identities and sexual orientations to come together for the party they always dreamed of.

Here are the details!

Date: Friday, June 1

Time: 6 pm to 10 pm

Location: New York City

Eligibility Requirements:

The evening will feature a red carpet, dancing, music, interactive experiences, special guest appearances, and a Prom Court crowning ceremony. The event will be hosted by BuzzFeed Creators Curly Velasquez and Jazzmyne Jay Robbins.

For many of us young LGBTQ students, we know how important—and stressful—prom can be. The ability to be unapologetically yourself should not interfere with any of your prom plans.

In high school, I felt contained by what my school expected of me. I never experienced prom as my true and authentic self. I am so excited to attend Queer Prom as an openly nonbinary student and activist.

Prom is a pivotal celebration that allows young people to express who we are and hold tightly to who we love. Too often, that is taken from LGBTQ youth. Queer Prom gives us the opportunity to make prom what we want—on our own fabulous terms—and nobody can take that away.

We hope to see you there!
