As the Public Religion Research Institute (PRRI) reported last month, public opinion among religious groups has grown in support of LGBT equality, and the religious and LGBT communities continue to open new lines of communication and dialogue. In tonight's episode of The Fabulous Beekman Boys, couple Brent Ridge and Josh Kilmer-Purcell, who have been together for 11 years, experience that firsthand when Josh meets Brent’s religious family for the first time.
Brent and Josh have this to say about sharing this personal milestone with their viewers in tonight's episode:
“Like many LGBT couples who come from fundamentalist families, we've struggled to find a way to bring us all together. In our case, it took 11 years. On tonight's episode of The Fabulous Beekman Boys, we captured the first words spoken between Brent's religious grandparents and Josh. We hope that our story will inspire other families coping with differences to reach out and begin building relationships of respect and love."
