KETK-56, the NBC affiliate in Tyler, Texas, has confirmed that a piece will air this morning in response to
GLAAD's request that the station take responsibility for
an anti-gay local radio segment that was re-aired on the station Wednesday morning. The piece is said to feature on-camera remarks from Dave Tillery, the station's general manager, as well as remarks on behalf of the LGBT community from Chuck Smith, the deputy director of Equality Texas. KETK Executive Producer Gloria Gallardo has confirmed that the piece will air on
East Texas Live sometime between 12:00 EST/11:00 CST & 1:00 EST/12:00 CST. The hosts of this program are Bob & Callie, the same morning show hosts who were on-set when Wednesday's highly offensive segment ran on KETK.
The station has also said that the piece will be re-packaged after
East Texas Live for broadcast on the web. There's also the possibility that it could run on additional newscasts later today. We'll share more information as it becomes available.
**Please note that GLAAD was not able to screen this morning's piece prior to air time. We are hopeful that it will be consistent with expectations that were set during our outreach conversations with the station.**
