Several cast members of Fox's hit series Glee joined celebrities and millions of Americans by wearing purple to show their support of LGBT youth and to honor those who tragically took their lives as a result of anti-gay bullying.
Jenna Ushkowitz, the actress who plays Tina on the series, tweeted "We wore our purple with pride today #spiritday" and included a photo of her and her castmates sporting purple (below). Her fellow cast mates Corey Monteith and Lea Michele also tweeted that they would also be wearing purple.

The Glee cast is only one example of the many media figures who have shown their respect for the spike in LGBT teen suicide in the past month. They join celebrities like Lance Bass, Clay Aiken, Wilson Cruz, Kathy Griffin, Perez Hilton, Khloe Kardashian, Ricky Martin, Jay Manuel, Jill Zarin, and Chely Wright who all wore purple or made their Twitter and/or Facebook photos purple to show their support and to spread awareness about the struggles that many LGBT youth face in their everyday lives.
