GLAAD reported last week about a May 29 interview with the Los Angeles Times in which UFC fighter and The A-Team star Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson was quoted as saying that "acting is kind of gay. It makes you soft. You got all these people combing your hair and putting a coat over your shoulders when you’re cold. I don’t want a coat over my shoulders! I’m a tough-ass motherf**ker." The article, which also ran in the Sunday print edition of the Times, was part of the promotional push by Twentieth Century Fox for the upcoming film adaptation of The A-Team; Jackson plays B.A. Baracus, the iconic role originated by Mr. T in the television series. GLAAD reached out to Fox about Jackson's remarks. Although Fox declined to comment, Taj Paxton, GLAAD’s Director of Entertainment Media, spoke directly with Jackson to explain why his comments were so harmful. In addition to an apology and explanation posted to his website, Jackson also released to following statement to GLAAD: “I have learned from this experience and through discussions with GLAAD, will know to be more careful in the future. Saying that if I have offended anyone, I would like to extend my apologies in hope that my explanation is understood.”
